Dentures Sydney / Emergency Denture Repair Sydney

If you have lost multiple teeth due to gum disease or extraction, dentures may be the most appropriate and affordable solution.

A denture is an appliance that you insert in the mouth to replace natural teeth and to provide support for cheeks and lips.

Dentures are usually made of acrylic and can be fabricated either immediately after extracting the teeth, or after the tissues have been healed completely. Conventional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal. It is ready for placement about 8 to 12 weeks after teeth extraction. Immediate dentures are made in advance and are fixed as soon as the teeth removed, so the patient does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.

The upper denture has a flesh coloured palette that covers the roof of the mouth, and the lower denture would be shaped like a horseshoe leaving enough room for the tongue to move.

Properly fitting dentures can significantly improve your smile and your self-esteem. At Rainbow Dental, we can get you fixed with complete dentures, partial dentures, or immediate dentures.

Full / Complete Dentures

Complete dentures rest directly on the gums and cover the entire jaw. This is a suitable option when all the teeth are missing. Complete dentures can be either conventional or immediate.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture typically consists of the placement teeth that are attached to a gum coloured base, and retained by clasps around the existing teeth. Partial dentures can make biting and chewing easier, and enhance your smile. They are used when the patient has some natural teeth left in the upper or lower jaw. The partial denture will fill the empty spaces created by the missing teeth, and prevent other teeth from drifting to new position.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

Immediate Emergency Dentures

With immediate dentures, you can go back with a full set of teeth the same day that you have your teeth removed. This prevents the embarrassment of having to be without teeth while your gum heals. Immediate dentures will require more adjustments and returning for a better fit as the extraction site heals and the bone remodels. When the healing is complete, the dentist may advise you to get a new denture.
